Hey, Office Insiders! I’m Ekta Dwivedy, a Product Manager on the PowerPoint Mobile team. We’re happy to announce a new feature in PowerPoint for the iPad that gives you the ability to customize slide backgrounds with images!

Customize slide backgrounds

The ability to customize slide backgrounds with images is a great way to add visual flair to your PowerPoint presentation. This is now an option on your iPad!

You can insert any picture to serve as a background on a PowerPoint slide, and also adjust its transparency. This helps customize your slides to meet your specific presentation needs.

How it works

1. Go to the Design tab and tap Format Background, then tap Picture Fill.

2. Tap Insert Picture and select an image to add it to your slide.

Availability

The ability to customize slide backgrounds is available to Insiders running Version 2.59 (Build 22030101) or later.

Don’t have it yet? It’s probably us, not you.

Features are released over some time to ensure things are working smoothly. We highlight features that you may not have because they’re slowly releasing to larger numbers of Insiders. Sometimes we remove elements to further improve them based on your feedback. Though this is rare, we also reserve the option to pull a feature entirely out of the product, even if you, as an Insider, have had the opportunity to try it.
