Hi, Office Insiders! I’m Sammy from the Office team, and I’m excited to share the news about the redesigned ribbon in Office apps on iPad. The new look has a more modern feel and is designed to help you focus on your work.

Redesigned Office ribbon for iPad

We’ve updated the experience in the Office mobile app, and in the standalone Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote apps on iPad. When you’re working on a document, spreadsheet, presentation, or notebook, you’ll notice the redesigned look and feel of the ribbon, which includes:

How it works

The new ribbon will automatically appear in your apps as the update rolls out. You don’t have to do anything; just enjoy!

If you’d like to turn off the new ribbon, follow these steps:

    1. Open a document, presentation, spreadsheet, or notebook on your iPad.
    2. Tap the More Options (…) menu in the upper-right corner of the screen.
    3. Toggle off the New Look & Feel option.
    4. Close the file by tapping the Back button (<) in the upper-left corner of the screen.
    5. Reopen the file.

If you do decide to turn off this feature, please tell us why and help us improve (see the Feedback section below for instructions).

Availability

This feature is available to iOS Insiders running Version 2.51 (Build 21070606) or later.

Features are released over some time to ensure things are working smoothly. We highlight features that you may not have because they’re slowly releasing to larger numbers of Insiders. Sometimes we remove elements to further improve them based on your feedback. Though this is rare, we also reserve the option to pull a feature entirely out of the product, even if you, as an Insider, have had the opportunity to try it.
