Greetings, Insiders! My name is Jayantika Sarwal, and I’m a Program Manager on the Canvas team. We’re glad to share that the much-requested Ruler feature you know and love for Windows and Mac is now available in Word for the Web.
Ruler in Word
We’ve heard your request for an easy way to format your content in the documents. In fact, this was one of the Top 5 asks on the UserVoice portal.
You now have an on-the-fly provision for applying indents, adjusting margins, and interacting with tables in your documents. Ruler serves as a one-stop place for all of this, saving you time.
How it works
- Open Word in the Web.
- Create a file.
- Click on View menu.
- Enable the Ruler option by clicking on it.
- You will now see the Ruler displayed on your canvas just below the Ribbon.
- Start using it to set indents, change margins or interact with the tables to resize their dimensions easily.
Availability
Ruler is available in Word for the Web to 10% of First Release audience. We are rolling it out to all web users shortly.
We typically release features over some time to ensure that things are working smoothly. This is true for Insiders as well. We highlight features that you may not have because they’re slowly releasing to larger numbers of Insiders. Sometimes we remove elements to further improve them based on your feedback. Though this is rare, we also reserve the option to pull a feature entirely out of the product, even if you, as Insiders, have had the opportunity to try them.
