Hello, Insiders! We have appreciated your support over the past 7 years since the inception of the Office Insider program in late 2015. We are excited to unveil today a new name and an expanded purview.

Office Insider is now Microsoft 365 Insider

In alignment with the transition from Office to Microsoft 365, we have changed the name of the Office Insider program to the Microsoft 365 Insider program.

Our goals are to help you learn about all of the upcoming Microsoft 365 features, apps and services, and to deliver content that you are interested in, no matter which preview program or update channel the updates are released through.

Microsoft 365 Insider Home PageWhat is changing?

  • Our purview. You may have noticed that we’ve been publishing blog posts about offerings beyond the traditional Office apps. We will continue to  expand our blog coverage of features, apps, and services under the Microsoft 365 umbrella moving forward.
  • Our content offerings. Release notes have moved to Learn.microsoft.com.

When will these changes happen?

Changes are starting to roll out today, January 18th, and updates will continue through the month of March.

Who will these changes apply to?

These changes apply to all registrants of the Office Insider program, and anyone who reads our blog, visits our communities, or uses our social media channels.

How will these changes impact me? Do I need to do anything?

There is no impact to Office Insider updates. Apps in Current Channel (Preview) and Beta Channel continue to receive Insider updates automatically.

No further action is needed on your part.

Note: Some Microsoft 365 apps may release features through a different Preview channel, and we will note that in the Availability section of our blog posts. Unless otherwise noted, Insider updates are delivered through Beta Channel and Current Channel (Preview).

What is Microsoft 365?

Microsoft 365 is a cloud-powered productivity platform that includes apps like Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneDrive, and so much more.

Is Office going away entirely?

No. The name has changed, but you continue to  have access to apps like Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook with your subscription to Microsoft 365.

We also continue to offer one-time purchases of those apps to consumers and businesses via  Office 2021 and Office LTSC plans.
